FishyGirl
My drift wood I put it my tank is looking sort of weird. It looks like there is white foamy stuff around it but it’s very clear. Anyone know what’s going on or what I should do
nabokovfan87
Definitely the fuzzy fuzz we just call biofilm. You can use a toothbrush and gently knock all of that stuff off. You can also just stick it in a bucket and do it in the yard. Some types of wood are more prone to this. Entirely safe, just unsightly. It's either a bacteria or something growing on the wood as it acclimates to being underwater.
Lennie
Snails and shrimp snack on it. Also if it doesn’t bother you, you don’t have to do anything really. Just let it be
Andy's Fish Den
Biofilm, perfectly normal to occur after being added to a tank. Any critters in the tank, fish, snails, shrimp will enjoy cleaning it off of the wood for you.
