Pepere
New co op blog posted yesterday. https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/5-ways-to-cool-aquarium-water?utm_campaign=Blog Newsletter 6%2F20%2F23 (01H28QDA4PJ0396ETNQT17KV94)&utm_medium=email&utm_source=email&_kx=zGmlK4WVnVdmxQT8JnbxYK8ORQV9n1cfyPYIG9JvpT4%3D.HpTNTr I am amazed that no mention is made of air conditioning your living space. Without question a room air conditioner for the room your aquariums are in would be drastically cheaper to buy than aquarium chillers for various tanks, and by golly it would make the aquarium keeper more comfortable as well…. One room in a house being air conditioned can make it your own Fortress of Solitude and Refuge of Comfort…
Fish Folk
Good point! I'm also running into the situation where the dehumidifiers I must run constantly are steadily increasing the room air temperature in the summer. The best point made, IMHO, is adding air. Warming water holds less and less dissolved oxygen.
Pepere
Air conditioners help cool and dehumidify too. My living space is well insulated and air sealed. Despite the box saying 6,000 btu air conditioner is only suitable for a small room, it handles the whole apartment with ease.
redfish
I view using AC to cool a room like using a heater to heat a room instead of using individual tank heaters. If you have tanks that like to be in the same temperature range, it's a good option. You can always run a heater in an individual tank for higher temps.
