API v Interpret Salt

Does anyone who has used First Aid Salt Addictive know if this is the same as the API Aquarium Salt? As both look similar but o am unsure if there is a big difference between them.

Unfortunately, there is not a clear chemical analysis on the Equilibrium product. My initial thought is that they are essentially the same. First Aid Salt claims that it offers  "pH Buffer" -- but I suspect the same results from using any aquarium salt. I think that both can be used for treatment of sick fish, for raising salinity, for hatching Artemia cysts, etc.

My suspicion is that a company will add an unspecified proprietary ingredient to something as basic as salt with the primary goal of making consumers reluctant to use a different brand without the undisclosed proprietary ingredient.

 

I freely admit I could be wrong and there is solid science showing the superiority of the proprietary ingredient, but my guess is the marketers would hype the science proof if it existed.
