Why haven't I done this B-4?

Recommended Posts

Cause I never thought about it till I done it, What am I talking about ?
I wasn't 1 that grew up with fish, I didn't have a very much of a kid life
I didn't get my 1st fish till somewhere in my 30's & didn't have any
computer till like in my 50's so I'm on the fence about a lot of things.

Well long story short, I've learned a lot on how to do stuff that
I never thought would work till I just done it out of the blue &
to my surprise 7-10 it seems to work by just jumping on it &
doing it the way I see it in my mind, better known as This.

flying by the seat of your pants & that's the way I work on
what ever it is that I  come up with, I see it, I do it, it works
how simple is that ? just like the way I do with my 75 gal
aquarium I've tried all kinds of things with it since I got it.

I started with just plant's in 2 liter soda bottles, yep that's right
did it work? yea till I got tired of looking at it with no fish &
changed it 6 months later & took the plant's out of the bottles
& got some fish & planted the plant's in the b d b s substrate.

I got tired of looking at that after 6 mons  & changed it again
to river rock & pea gravel, took out all the sand & I LOVE IT
it looks more natural fish are doing great & with the ugf in it
it's a lot more cleaner, not to mention the 2 hob 100gph filters.

So GUESS WHAT I'M thinking ? yep doing the same thing to
the 30 gal tall I just ordered a ugf & 2 power pumps for it
Under gravel Filter 20 Gallon Penn Plax with
2 Aquarium 320 GPH Fish Tank Submersible Pump
Powerhead
for the price of 1 I couldn't pass it up.

This should keep things nice & clean & picked up
with the way the 75 gal aquarium is looking with
the 2 hob filters & the ugf going in it, I thought
why not do the 30 gal the same way without the
hob's & just do it a little different with power heads

That way I can put a FULL cover on it with no open
gaps to worry about fish jumping out, will it work ?
I think it will, I'm hoping it will, what do you think ?

Not to jinx it, but I never use lid in any of my aquariums. I just love using mixture of floating plants and let them build some sort of a natural lid. I also avoid keeping fish that are well known as jumpers, like killis.

I feel like there are some factors that triggers fish’s jumping behavior. Some fish have their jumping ability instinctively as a part of their daily action like killis. Some fish use jping as a way to escape from agression and a bullying situation. Some may try hunt that way too. Or some scenarios like a ph shock

I personally believe, as long as you don’t go for jumpers like killis, hatchetfish, etc, and keep peaceful fish, it should be fine. Rachel O leary keeps almost all of her tanks without a lid too. You can check her channel, she does an amazing job.

But there is no need to risk well known jumpers or escapers like hatchefish mystery snails etc.

Goodluck in your new setup, excited to see it

Shiners are jumpers as well & that's what's going in the tank, &
I have albino cory cats that jump too along with nerite snails that
like to slither out of the tank, so a lid is most definitely a must.

I'll be working on the lid as soon as I get everything in the tank
set up where it will be the last thing to be done B-4 fish go in.

Agreed that multiple power heads in a 30 gallon tank could be a lot of flow. Definitely test it out before you throw any fish in there.

I'll make sure it's not going to blow stuff about the tank
I've been looking at how to put a spray bar on them or
use the airlines that comes with them B-4 I do anything.
