Flying fox 6523
I thought Danio's could be in the same tank, but apparently not in my case what went wrong? what happened? I have no earthly idea, I'm confused too I asked the person that I dealt with when I bought them 3-4 mons ago & he said they could, I took time watching videos about it & well nothing said they couldn't, so I bought like 15 of each at the same time. WELL ? I noticed now that both breeds have thined out to darn near nothing I haven't seen none floating or dead & there's a solid lid over the top I just added the snails like almost a month ago, so that's not it, so what happened to them? where did they go ? there's a sponge on the filter so they didn't get sucked in the filter, I check the tank everyday often. So what I have left I separated I put the zebras in the 75 gal with the 3 molly's being there's just 3 zebras left & they can go together I've seen so what's left of the leopards I left in the 30 gal with the 3 Cory's & 3 snails & MAYBE After a few months see what happens with them then go from there, either they all vanish & I get something different or get 1 or the other or both, just put in different tanks next time. I don't bother chasing my water levels so don't ask, I keep a study temperature in the tanks, I keep my tanks well maintained with keeping the water flushed with water changes & well fed, & well as they say, you learn as you go & you can't win without losing you have to take the good with the bad & keep your chin up. Maybe some 1 can shed some light on the situation cause buying both breeds just to see this a few months later isn't what I expected & it sure makes me think about the future if I want to try it again, just in a different way or chill a bit I can get more with the store credit I have left to use up. Tanked
Yes, the two Danios should get along well together. Your 75 should include plants and places for the fish to hide, rest and chilll. Where are the missing fish? either stuck somewhere or eaten by their tankmates, They are all Omnivores. What happened? The Danios are tolerant of a wide range of conditions. If you are maintaining your setup in consistent manner, the problem lies elsewhere. I have experienced a mass die-off with Zebra Danios. The problem was with the fish, all but two Zebras died. Did your LFS stop selling either of the Danios? My LFS stopped selling them until they took corrective measures, and gave me credit for the entire purchase, not just the dead fish. You have already moved the Leopards to a separate tank. If they continue to die off than this would confirm the sickness. The other possibility is that you added 30 fish to your tank at the same time and seriously upset the balance causing ammonia spikes... You didn't provide a lot of information as to tank conditions or the time frame, so this is mostly speculation. If you are not experiencing any more deaths I would reintroduce some of the Leopards to the 75 and see what happens.

I started them in the 75 gal that had been cycled for awhile & had it loaded with plant's of all sorts, then after a few months later I took everything out to redo the tank, put them in another tank, used the same water & put most the plant's in with them, it took about 3-4 days to get them back in a tank so I put them in the 30 gal, changed the water 50% & well a few weeks later is when I seen them just down to what was left & I decided to separate them. Now after separating them things look like that's what I should have done in the 1st place, cause the pet store had them in separate tanks as well too but I should have done the same thing, live & learn right ? I know now.
