Ray B
I have Pygmy Chain Swords growing rather profusely. They are taller than I had hoped they would be. Can I trim them down to a better height, or would that destroy them? 1
Ken Burke
Beautiful tank! Since it’s taller than you want, what’s the downside of trying?
Mary W.
Definitely beautiful tank. Are you sure those are micro-swords, not dwarf sag you got instead? Those grass like plants can be tough to tell apart even for plant vendors. It may be that whatever it is will just keep growing to where its comfortable in the ecosystem of your tank. Maybe try transplanting some of it farther back and see if you like it there better?
Ray B
I thought the same thing. I got it from Aquarium Co-Op so I assume it was labeled correctly. Edited March 6, 2023 by Ray B Duplicate submission
knee
Yes you can trim the leaves to make them shorter. The plant will be fine.
Tait_007
@Ray B Is this a low or high tech tank? It’s a beautiful tank and I’m just curious.

Staceyh527
Beautiful tank I’m wondering can the same be done with dwarf chain sword? Mine has grown almost to the top of my 60 breeder I want to know will it be ok to trim it shorter without destroying it?

Staceyh527
Ok so after the trim the plant no longer grows? I don't want to kill it. Just want it shorter. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. They may take a while to start growing again but will send out more runners in the process.

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry didn't mean to imply that the plants wouldn't continue to grow just that the ends will be cut off and not pointy like they are naturally. Most plants like the grass types people trim individual leaves, and the stem types they cut for height.
