Fish Folk Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 We have had a lot of cold winter weather here. A few weeks ago, after a wild freeze and subtle thaw, my son collected wild plants from a frigid swamp nearby. Normally, this is a huge NO NO because of the risks of bringing foreign elements into the fishroom. But a huge freeze (0° F) and the fact that these plants were still green was enough to warrant trying this out. I don’t even know the plant species. But they’re doing very, very well. Just the planted ones in the center, and back… 8
Sora_andfishies Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 that is really neat! I have never thought about trying something like that before, I hope they continue to do well. your Lilly is looking great btw 1
jwcarlson Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 If you're cold, they're cold. Bring them inside.  Will be interesting to see how they grow. 2 1 1
Flying fox 6523 Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 What do they look like in the water you got them from are they evasive? what does the substrate look like where they came from sandy, gravel? I'd take a water sample from where you got them & see what it is to help them thrive, then I would try & find what kind of plant they are. 1
