HOB with co2?

when putting co2 in a tank with a hob filter where's the best place for the diffuser for best distribution? and is there a way to put it in the hob filter? I have an AC20

also does less flow in a planted tank increase pearling?

I like CO2 on the opposite side of the HOB outflow — or off to the side somewhere. Just a personal preference. I love the AC20 filter. I think I’d avoid putting the CO2 diffuser in there though.

It should make it worse because the CO2 isn't distributed as well.

Opposite side of the return to push the co2 down, and the bubbles spend more time in the water before going up to the surface. More time in the water means more co2 is being dissolved. 
 

From my experience, flow doesn’t affect pearling. I’ve had tanks pearl with constant flow throughout the tank and also without flow. Also, less flow could open up some algae issues.
