Thornapple61
Do aquarium plants receive any benifit from blue light? I’ve read that algae really likes it. I am a new tank owner with a pretty fresh tank that I am working on getting balanced. I have some great algae and black algae popping up, but I don’t thinks it’s a problem (yet). But am just wondering if a guy even bothers with having the blue light on.
Kurt Brutting
Blue light will help with plant color and photosynthesis, but having it on at night as a night light will definitely grow algae.
Mmiller2001
Try not to focus in on which color, just understand that too much light is an algae trigger. I run my light for 11 hours and 1% blue for an additional 4.5 hours. I drop overall light intensity to compensate, and this tank has very little light demanding plants.
