What is he?

He was a bully at a buddy aquarium so I took him and added him to my koi pond, now its getting to the low 40s I'm moving him back inside till next year.

 

I was thinking cross?

I don't know much about rainbow fish, but maybe a blue turquoise rainbowfish.

Looks like some kind of rainbowfish I think I would agree with @FriendlyLoachon it being a blue turquoise rainbowfish.

@WhitecloudDynasty I agree with you I think it’s a cross. Where did the buddy get it or is it something he spawned? Maybe @Bentley Pascoe can help he’s a rainbow fish aficionado.

For the most part it looks like a Melanotaenia Lucustris (Turquoise Rainbow).  Hard to tell if the odd coloration is due to stress or something else.  If you get that fish back around to 72 degrees or so in a tank (slowly of course!) it should settle it's color and be more obvious.

Yea the water was around 50 when I pulled him out this morning

None of my turquoise have that orange stripe in the rear like that. On thmop of the head, sure they have that strioe they flash when they're  fire up, but never seen one near the tail like that.

Please post more pictures when he's back in a tank and warmed up! I'd love to see if he still looks the same.
