Good luck! Koi bettas are my favourite 😃 Also, check out simply betta as she has a lot of great videos on breeding bettas.

Thank you! I’ve only ever tried this one other time, and I only ended up with about 15 fry. Hopefully this will turn out a whole lot better

I've been trying many times over to do this... however all my males are just far too aggressive... its terrible. No idea how to get the males to calm down they attack the females so bad they try to jump out of the water.

EDIT: Glad to hear yours are breeding!

I didn’t end up getting any eggs, so I decided to take her out and try again this week. Hopefully I goes smoothly this time 👍

I fed livefoods before breeding mine, and I’ve heard that lowering the temperature by 3-5 degrees (Fahrenheit!) for a couple of days can get them into spawning mood.

Do you have any places which could help anchor the bubble nest?

Okay so Friday night I put both the bettas back in their breeding setup, with each other separated. Saturday afternoon I released the mom. And today Sunday about 24 hours since I released her they are spawning again! She Is definitely dropping eggs this time!

His bubble nest is about 6 times bigger than the one he made last attempt.

it looks like I’m gonna have some fry 😁36DEF199-4233-4567-A6D7-25FCB8B66622.jpeg.3d36916845b6d199c519b70b20a08419.jpeg

Ok they have finished! I can’t really tell how many eggs there are, but he is being a good dad and placing back in the nest 😄

how long until they hatch? And how long until they are free swimming ?22A884BA-D33C-49A1-9D46-2AD9B69E4A6E.jpeg.43d8a62235e802d799e2832564dcc4bc.jpeg

Huge congrats! It take about 2ish days for hatching and another 24 hours after that to become free swimming. Feed with green water, infusoria, or any tiny (literally tiny). Have you removed the female yet?

Seeing how beautiful the parents are, I can’t wait to see the fry!

Well sad news, it looks like he ate the eggs 🙁 I’m not sure why he would do that, my guess is they might not have been fertilized? Idk

Bummer.

I have seen people remove the father after spawning, but they end up getting little or no fry…maybe it’s something to do with water parameters?

I’ve done bettas one other time, and that time I did remove the father, I think I will get a lot more fry if I can keep the father in with them. I think the eggs must not have been fertilized, they always stayed pretty white, none of them seemed opaque
