GoYankees10
I think he smashed against something. He is in my Congo Tetra tank has been going for 3 years. Treat with salt? Or has someone seen this before and it’s something else. I moved him to an extra tank I keep setup for these type of things.

nabokovfan87
Salt is fine to start with and wont hurt or harm anything. You can also add in IAL to help out with that too. Not easy, but are you able to verify the fish can eat and that there's not something stuck in the mouth?

Nothing stuck in his mouth and he isn’t eating. His lips are swelled up. I’ve never seen anything like it though I’ve only been keeping fish for 6 years. Colu
As his lips are swollen Frist thing I would do is a course of maracyn2 active ingredient minocycline has anti-inflammatory properties that will help reduce some of the swelling and salt 1 table spoon for 2 gallons @GoYankees10

GoYankees10
I treated him with Marcyn and salt. Two more of my congos both got it also. Quarantined them and treated same way. Today all went back into their tanks healed! I believe it was tetra mouth rot. Luckily I caught it early. All I’ve researched is it’s a death sentence if you don’t see it quick.
