Pepere
Does Reverse respiration kill Hydra? I must have had some hitchikers on plant order… Recently I have been feeding Baby Brine Shrimp daily due to Corydora fry. The Hydra have blossomed in response to their favorite food in multiple tanks…
Guppysnail
Yes. It kills hydra. I use it on plants in my Scarlet badis tank. They only eat tiny live food so it gets crazy. I also bought Spixii snails that mowed through a hydra carpet in a week. They eat eggs so not great for a hatching tank but other tanks they are wonderful. The hydra come in on the brine shrimp. Even in bare egg hatch tanks the minute I introduce live BBS hydra appear. 1
Katherine
My nerites ate the hydra that had been on some algae covered decor along with the algae. I'm not sure if it was the black racers or the tigers though.

So they can survive in a dormant state all dried up like Brine Shrimp eggs? I had thought they simply multiply with abandon when fed Baby Brine Shrimp. They enter something like the cryptobiosis of bbs eggs. They can endure freezing and drying. However between the ph shift, pressure and lack of oxygen in seltzer the cysts perish. Oh and if they were already there then yes they multiply with abandon.
