Theplatymaster
Following a post by @nabokovfan87 i have begun to realize the beauty of a clown pleco. However i have a nice piece of eucalyptus root in my tank, and i dont want it to get eaten. So my question is: Is the kind of wood i have thick enough to withstand some clown pleco grazing? The wood is eucalyptus root.
nabokovfan87
Time will tell, but I would say yeah, generally anything used in the hobby apart from Cholla wood is probably robust enough.
T. Payne
In my experience, clown plecos will slowly work away at any wood except for mopani.
itsfoxtail
I use malaysian driftwood in with my clown plecos and while I have seen some of it whittle away over time it's definitely not anything you'd have to replace for at LEAST several years!

BradleyH20
I have two clown plecos in my 40GB and they love Maylasian driftwood. I keep it front and center and they're always on it. It's relatively inexpensive and the 6-8" piece I have has been in there for 2 years

I can't say it's from the clowns, but they definitely have made some progress on mine too. One of those things where the wood is rotting in the tank, but yeah.... they like caves and making those caves deeper / wider. Such a fun process to watch.
