JoeQ
Found this hitch hiker today, I'm caught in between IDing this as a Pond snail or a baby Ramshorn snail. Can anyone give me a positive ID?
Theplatymaster
looks like a ramshorn to me
TOtrees
yep, ramshorn. Leopard patterning - some have it some don't, it's genetic. But it fades with age so snails that are 'leopard' patterned when young will lose this appearance as they age (still there, just harder to see).
JoeQ
Thanks Guys, I'm not sure how long I'll have him/her. Hopefully they are strong enough to defeat the grappling tactics of the Assassin snail!
TOtrees
Ramshorns are one of the first snails to go when assassins are around. They don't have an operculum like trumpet or mystery snails do, so they're virtually defenseless. 😞

knee
If you really want him/her to survive you can put it in a betta cup or similar with some tank water. Any small container will do but if not, then another meal for the assassins 😋

I'll chalk the loss up to the circle of life, one snails loss is another snails gain! 🤣

It shouldn't be too hard to do, either, if that's the way you want to go.
