Tropicalfishkeeping201
Hello fishkeepers, Has anyone kept a bolivian ram with a Dwarf Flag Cichlid (Laetacara curviceps) in a community tank? I wanted to add 1 bolivian ram and 1 Dwarf Flag Cichlid (Laetacara curviceps) in my 30 gallon community tank with platys and mollies but will they all get along? If these two cichlids won't get along, what other dwarf cichlid can I keep with 1 bolivian, platys, and mollies? Thank you in advance
Fish Folk
They might get along Ok. Laetacara, in my experience, aren’t terribly aggressive. Neither are Bolivians. Just recognize that _all_ cichlids tend to require a “pecking order” in every tank. Once they scrap a little, a “boss” will assume dominance. Also… in case I’m terribly wrong… have a solid Plan B.

I’m going to have a Plan B just in case they don’t get along but hopefully they do. Thanks again 😊
Fish Folk
At the very end of this video, you can see a Laetacara poke its head out on the lower left. Great example of a large planted tank with loads of fish variety: Here's a batch of fry we got to hatch for us awhile back. We kept "Purple Smilers" (Laetacara araguaiae) . . .

I’m new to the hobby and this was very helpful because I can also add lots of plants inside my tank like the first video to reduce the chance of fish getting bullied and make it a more peaceful environment for them where they can hide. I’m really loving this hobby! Those tanks on both of these videos are beautiful! Do you sell fish? Do you sell Purple Smilers" (Laetacara araguaiae)? I do enjoy the hobby very much. My son got me into it . . . and it's really stuck for me. Regrettably, we did not hold onto the Purple Smilers for long. We do sell some fish now and then. I actually just finished readying a box that will ship out on Monday for a buyer in Georgia. It is just a fun thing I do. Nothing to really make money. Aside from the guppies, I breed a few species that are not commonly found in stores. Most of my stock is in slow-grow, winter mode. Fry are still very young. Some of these are just brooders who haven't produced yet. Presently I am working on breeding / raising fry from: two lines of Guppies (see below "Precious Metals" and "Sapphire Dragon"), Rainbow Shiners (US Natives), four types of Killifish (Fundulopanchax scheeli, Fundulopanchax sjostedti, Nothobranchius guentheri, and Nothobranchius rachovii Biera 98), Mountain Redbelly Dace, and a couple others. I am considering trying out Elassoma gilberti (Gulf Coast Pygmy Sunfish) sometime soon. I'm kind of a sucker for small, colorful freshwater fish. Between my son and I, we've bred a fair number of different species for our fish club's Breeder's Award Program (BAP). Here are some photos . . .

Your fish are so beautiful, their colors are really popping! I don't have many nearby local fish stores, the few that are nearby are saltwater which have a small freshwater section but they do not have a lot of variety and the fish don't look healthy and don't look nothing like your fish. Your fish look really healthy, I can tell you and your son take really good care of them and love this hobby. You guys are definitely selling quality fish! That's awesome that you and your son breed fish and are in this hobby together. Its great because you both spend time together doing what you both love. I've never seen these fish before, only guppies but the guppies I've seen look nothing like yours. I might be getting another tank soon, hopefully I do. If I do, I'm interested in purchasing from you guys. I would love to add these fish in a future tank.
