AnotherHumanPerson
Hey Nerms! 👋 Today I was just watching my rainbowfish tank, and noticed tiny specks towards the top of my tank. I look closer at them, and they were baby gertudae rainbows, bright blue eyes and all! And advice on raising them? I was thinking of moving them into a breeder box and feeding them sera micron/bbs once they get bigger. (p.s. sorry for the crappy photos 🙃) 1

Patrick_G
Congratulations! A separate box sounds like a good idea. Are they close to the size where they’ll eat bbs?

Big enough that the bbs will fit in their mouths 😋 I haven’t breed blue eyes but I think this is true for all fry. 1

Colu
Sera micron or hikari first bites would be good food to start them on if there to small to except bbs 1

I tried with my first batch of endlers, not sure if they were the ones who ate it though! On 1/1/2023 at 5:34 PM, AnotherHumanPerson said: No, I haven’t, but it seems interesting. AnotherHumanPerson
Update: Thought this past month or so, things had been going well…. At least, until recently when one of my female rainbowfish learned to jump into the breeder box and proceeded to eat most of the fry. (Ofc this had to happen while I was out of town 🙃) I still have the three largest alive, and they’re doing pretty well.
nabokovfan87
Very unfortunate. That's a pretty intense way to get breakfast. Hopefully you have some more fry soon, but best of luck with the rest of the fry. Hopefully they do well for you.
