k0olmini
Hey everyone I’m going to Japan next month, not my first time but my first time as a fish keeper. I heard there’s a possibility that I can bring fish back. TSA allows in with my carry on in a clear plastic container. Are there any customs/wildlife restrictions I need to consider? Fish Folk
Probably need import license. Even on trips to Peru, folks send fish with guy who has one. 1
Patrick_G
Aside from US customs regulations you’ll also want to check the aviation travel rules in Japan. TSA probably won’t be a worry unless you’re connecting in a U.S. city. Just the logistics of buying, packaging and carrying a fish on an all day air journey sound exhausting to me but aquarists seem to be bringing in fish all the time so it must be possible. I suspect fish folk is correct and most fish are shipped in through licensed import/export businesses.
