I'm no expert but it looks like pop eye or bacterial infection (I think both are caused by bacteria). I've also heard eyes can pop out due to attacks. Someone may have a better answer then me.

Your ammonia is cycling at least which means you have a healthy culture. The one thing I would guess is that your tank isnts that stocked, and with that many plants you probably would run less nitrate with that much growth. My guess is that you may be over feeding and the bacteria can handle it but your fish can't handle that much bacteria.

My 2 cents isn't worth much but maybe someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Nitrates need constant supplementation with fertilization.

I dont think it is over feeding. I dose Easy Green regularly.

where it is a single eye and resolving I suspect it was an injury.  None of her tank mates have any hint.

and additions to the tank are currently working through quarantine.

Nice. I forgot to ask if you were ferting. I had a Betta get this about 4 month ago in a tank of 4. Both eyes and has 3 tank mates. I suspect it was weak genetics as I had just bought the batch as new breed/gene diversity stock.

Glad to see it's healing.

I kept a close eye on her and her mates, ready to dose with erythromycin if it got worse or spread, and or transfer her to a treatment tank and go antibiotics and salt.

8 fish in this 29 gallon tank currently, 8 Serpae Tetra in basement quarantine tanks 1 1/2 weeks in to a 6 week quarantine process.

That's a long quarantine. Congrats for having the restrain. I never can wait that long. I try and buy the healthiest fish all the time now and have the motto if it's sick, I should know how to treat it. I feel I couldn't be a successful breeder without going through some tough treatments. As long as it doesn't have worm butt, I'll usually take my chances.

First tank back into the hobby and I got a free setup with fish from craigslist. 3 weeks of treating red butt worms (I forgot the name) and in the end, whole tank culled and tossed (small chip in tank). Lesson learned.

Also top fin ich remedy sucked. Used something else and instantly got results.

It is a whole lot easier to be patient when you run 3 quarantine tanks.

Every other week you put new fish in a display tank and then go get some new ones…

i have 2 29 gallon display tanks and a 20 high display tank and 3 10 gallon quarantine tanks…

and I have the ability to quickly set up an emergency treatment tank or two as needed…
