O13SC3N3
I have a rather large piece of Seriyu rock I'm about to smash down and work in, still gonna shape the substrate a bit more. Not the greatest by far, this is my second attempt to a planted tank. 55 gal standard. Plants, lots of plants, any thoughts where to place what and what to use? I have a fluval 407 that will be filtering this. I'm looking at co2 options. And heater options. Not entirely sure what fish to put in it yet. Just kinda winging it. Substrate is a layer of (inert to build the hill first with rocks, followed by Fluval Stratum, mixed with Ada Amazonia, topped with eco complete 🤔 🤷 11/3 Update So I got my Seriyu rock broke down, even added a little bit of rose quartz. I made a diy spray bar for my fluval 407. My question is is this enough flow/surface agitation? Any suggestions, also any suggestions on co2, and heating. And I'm looking at some Java ferns, with anubias nana petites, my light seems pretty bright (maybe too bright) and I want to glue/tie moss not sure which one yet, Any thoughts? I think your substrate blend will work fine. My other thoughts were; wear safety glasses when you try to break up the stone and try keeping the wood just off the glass just enough to run a magnetic algae cleaner by them, a mistake I've made before.
Maggie
I think it looks great so far! It looks like you have a creative spark and I'm sure the end result will be beautiful. Winging it was the most therapeutic part for me.
McNubbin
Watch some green aqua videos in youtube. They talk almost exclusively about planting tanks and bring in a good number of pro aquascapers to talk about their methodologies. Great info to be found there that should help you get started.
