Wanting to change my original filter to a new one

I currently have a box filter in my 10 gallon. With a nano sponge filter.

And I want to remove the box filter and put in another sponge filter instead in my tank.

Can I just simply do that with out my tank crashing?

As long as your tank and sponge in there are cycled, yes you absolutely can. To be even safer you can start running the new sponge with the box filter on the tank, then take that off in a week or so.

How long should I run the new sponge filter before removing the old box filter?

My nano sponge filter is cycled and tank.
