CJs Aquatics
Hey all, 2 questions: 1. Is freeze dried food meant to be kept in the freezer? 2. Can I pour regular freeze dried bloodworms into an ice cube tray, add water and freeze it to make my own cubes as the sheets are hard to find in my area? I think my puffers might be more appt to take it that way they don’t like them when they just float on the surface is why I’m asking, anyone got a recipe? Like add garlic guard or crushed pellet or vitachem or something like that or just bloodworms and water? I guess that’s more then 2 questions sorry for the clickbait
Flumpweesel
Have you tried just soaking the freeze dried bloodworms in tank water to see if they show a bit more interest if they sink? No need to freeze in that case just rehydrate a pinch at a time. Garlic guard might increase interest but I'd try tank water first.
CJs Aquatics
@Flumpweesel tried soaking them today and used garlic guard… long story short, gotta do a water change lol guess it’s just not meant to be with bloodworms and this fish
Flumpweesel
Darn picky fish, do they eat frozen when you can get them? Maybe hold off feeding for a few days and try again. Have you tired the vibra bites I believe some people have had success there.
CJs Aquatics
never tried frozen cubes bc they are hard to acquire here tried vibra bites they won’t eat them I’ve been putting new things in each day to see if they will eat it but each day they haven’t so I guess they have been holding off on feeding on there own
TeeJay
Anytime I use freeze dried foods I like to soak them in seachem nourish for 30-60 minutes to rehydrate them if you will. Adds lots of vitamins an minerals. It's not a sure fire method but it usually works more times than not.
Flumpweesel
Maybe try brine shrimp, and get a snail culture growing. Are they pea puffers? Someone must know how to keep them fed.
lefty o
you do not need to keep freeze dried food frozen.
AllFishNoBrakes
My Pea Puffers get frozen bloodworms, and pest and Ramshorn snails. Haven’t invested the time and energy to try to get them on Vibra Bites.
