Do aquaclears rattle?

I am setting up a 40 gallon tank in the next couple days and need to decide if I want to get an aquaclear. I will have the tank in my living room and don’t want a racket going on.

Mine don’t rattle, but one of them has the cover off to accommodate plants. In my experience, most of the noise comes from the waterfall unless you keep the waterline just under the lip.

When I was using Aquaclears, they didn't rattle unless I needed to clean the sponges in it or the impeller. How often those things will need to be done depends on the stocking of the tank and how fast it gets dirty.

I find the cover can vibrate and be noisy enough to irritate me so I don’t use them. And very occasionally the impeller can rattle as @Lycramosasaid above.
i doubt it will cause noticeable noise for a living room.

I have an aquaclear 50 in my living room right next to my couch. The loudest noise it makes is the waterfall unless it needs to be cleaned. Occasionally the top used to rattle, but now I keep a container of food resting on top which stopped that

I ran aquaclear's years ago before they were bought out. I don't remember them rattling back then. I can't speak to the recent quality. From the pics I've seen on the box, it's essentially the same filter.

Aquaclear filters are very popular and work very well. I'm sure you will be satisfied.

Oh, and they do their job well, which is a nice bonus!

 I run an AC 30 - no issues. Mine rattles after putting it back on my tank after rinsing/cleaning it out during my weekly water changes. But, once I put the cover back on, it's silent.
