vs string algae

Hey nerms!

I recently found what appears to be either thread or hair algae in my aquarium. As per the co-op algae i’d guide, I have reduced light and have increased ferts, along side manually removing any patches I see. As part of my final offensive against the algae, I am considering getting an algae eater, specifically a shrimp. From what I’ve read online, the algae too hard for neocaridinia shrimp. This leaves either amano shrimp or ghost shrimp. Has anyone found that one is more effective at eating algae than the other?

Amano are army tanks and I would go that route for shrimp that eat certain algae. 

That said, the best defense against algae is plant mass and large regular water changes and mulm removal. I can't express how effective plant mass truly is in preventing algae.

I've never kept ghost shrimp so I can't speak to that, but amanos are incredible algae eaters in my experience, and I've had great success with them for keeping hair algae in check specifically!
