eggtopica Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 (edited) I just started a 20gallon a week ago with a new light. Had a hair algae bloom so I did a black out for two days, Turn on the light to see these. I'm using my old filter from my last tank and those balls and the algae are predominantly on that side of the tank. My plants are looking super rough but I figured that was from switching to remineralized RO water. Edited November 11, 2022 by eggtopica
eggtopica Posted November 11, 2022 Author Posted November 11, 2022 I just realized this is probably the betta pellets that I've been using to cycle the tank. I will leave this up for reference for any other beginners.
Mmiller2001 Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 That's bio film. Completely normal and just ignore it. It will go away. Shrimp love to eat it and other critters too.

I was sorely tempted to put a snail of some kind in there, either nerite or mystery snail. Just to clean stuff up but I really don't want to deal with snails again.
Mmiller2001 Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 I wouldn't put anything in there either. It will pass.
