Hi I'm an aquarist that focuses on fish comfort!

hi I've been keeping fish for about 3 years now along with a lot of learning curves.

My first three fish were a Dumbo betta, a crown tail betta, and an alien blue that did horribly because the tank was not cycled after the crowntail died.

I got inspired by iwagumi and Dutch planet tanks even though I don't have the skill to make aquascapes that pretty. So I tried to focus on making sure my livestock is comfortable and adjust the tanks composition based on where they like to hang out.

This is the new 20 gallon. The plants from the old tank are melting because they're not used to remineralized RO water. My tap water is liquid rock and my fish did not like it. it looks super ugly right now if anyone has any tips for composition I'd appreciate it.

These are my first two tanks that I sourced all my plants from. java fern also took over everything in the tank because I got depressed.

Bonus picture of the first betta I owned. He lived for about 3 years and started going blind.

Welcome!

That's a really cool piece of wood! As far a composition, it feels like there isn't really a focal point or flow. Maybe if you rotate the ochostone to point to the back left with the side lining up with the river rocks you have as a border, then that will make it for from right to left more? Or that rock is cool enough that it could be the center of it's own island scape and then you could just add more river rocks to extend the border under the branch.

You've probably already seen his stuff but just in case it's new to you, George Farmer has some good videos about composition.
