Cilph
One of my two nerite snails hasn't moved in three days. I found him upside down on one of my plants and am pretty sure I saw him poking out of his shell at that time. I picked him up and set him on the substrate and then nothing for three days. I pulled him out yesterday to examine him and don't see anything wrong with his shell and he doesn't smell. Is he dead? I read somewhere that they hybernate? His tank mate is going strong and eating all the things. No ammonia or nitrite. About 30-40 ppm nitrate. Ph is somewhere between 7.5-7.
Katherine
They can sleep for quite a long time. Was he upside down hanging from the bottom of a leaf? Or upside down on top of a leaf? With no smell I'd say check again in a few days. Gently touch the foot and see if he reacts.
gardenman
No smell means he's probably still alive. Some don't like being disturbed and will sit in one spot for adays until they start to move again.
Cilph
Thanks all. I'll check him again on Friday or so if he hasn't moved.
