So a few of the pleco eggs that stuck to dads tail I failed to retrieve. They actually hatched today along with all the ones in the cave. This is as they were hatching pretty cool to watch!647A3EF1-B219-4BCB-A6F1-496940DC3D1F.jpeg.1180f706adcd54f9a087f9afbfdfc9d6.jpegFB642971-C951-444F-8253-FEE72DDED591.jpeg.9085e006becf5b7c5418af9ee402ba6e.jpegFB642971-C951-444F-8253-FEE72DDED591.jpeg.9085e006becf5b7c5418af9ee402ba6e.jpeg

the rest of the babies are doing great. My ziss breeder box is here today. I added bacterae to the new grow out tank I had from shrimp tank start ages ago. I hope it’s still good and grows some quick biofilm. Goal is to have these out of mom and dads tank before new ones emerge from the cave. I hate putting them in a new unseasoned tank even though it’s stable it has none of the yummy stuff growing yet. 29B0E4A7-6579-414F-9D9A-FC5A61AB4078.jpeg.c64f53809c526496c80cf91408d5ad39.jpeg233FBAB4-A2EF-4716-BB32-5D03A485648D.jpeg.f9b1b470501848b3258cf8dfcf727335.jpegD9D0CE62-1388-4D33-8E21-B225C8DE294E.jpeg.3eea7a19e1aa473d0360a0c9c14903fc.jpeg

I introduced them to repashy on a stick today. They loved it of course. 7C450492-97A3-4DB2-92BF-4D79B487D690.jpeg.a7923647f2455da9413e0fc17369a776.jpegC83C939D-B243-4AB3-B88D-B2FF761191B8.jpeg.b35be6ef5798545a7b08ef25229e5eb0.jpeg

And hey, stealing our ideas makes us feel useful! Why else are we putting them up here? 😄

I only have about 15 beads left I used so many 🤣. I love them 😍

I actually found a website where I can order them for cheaper (~5c a bead rather than ~10c) but in order to use a coupon I ended up buying 700 😳 I’m both excited and horrified at myself! 😆

Oh my yeah that is a lot! Preemptive for all the plants you will $ell 🤩

Glad to have been of service!

I need to update my journal, and add that a dirted (deep tannin water) tank with 5 hours of light, 4 hour siesta and 5 more hours of light is currently outperforming a friend's CO2 tank for growth.

I was at 4/4/4 but the plants asked for more light.😳

Still no algae growth, but if you want astonishing growth out of plants @Guppysnail dirted definitely delivers!

Down on the farm…

I used @Brandy suggestion to suck the baby plecos out with a hose. That was awesome worked like a charm. Babies are doing great. There are still half a dozen quick ones in the parent tank. Their coloration is from yellow to white  most longfin  cute cute cute  one did get the tail torn a bit in the move but is no worse for the wear otherwise 514B7376-20BC-4842-A414-A71BFD50EB6E.jpeg.d69e864e3c3c15d79535ba528803a05e.jpeg6DF5B80A-03CF-4DEC-A320-D052D692EA63.jpeg.2e3a0dc2c0945a739538f7b7e913809c.jpegDACDB368-978E-4AF6-87D2-74CCCBC8C6D3.jpeg.072f2ad48ab8db3674a9f0c98112e2e7.jpeg

my cpd fry in the Pygmy tank is doing great. I named him scooter. Unfortunately the shrimp I threw in there to get the pleco tank numbers down are rapidly reproducing 😟. Even the ones in my guppy community and sorority are getting out of hand. I’m going tomorrow to see if the lfs will take more but I just sold them all they would take last week. But they will buy a ton of my excess hornwort 😁 The Pygmy are fearless I adore them. They shove right under Herbies nose while he is trying to eat. I’m to slow to get a pic thought. They don’t have much to do with Peanut Herbies buddy though. Also the younger of my two super red bristlenose has started growing whiskers… I thought I had two girls but I think I don’t 😳

😍 that is great!  I am excited for you. I had pleco caves medium size I bought that said they were for bristlenose. My snail got suck inside twice so I got the smaller ceramic ones two weeks after that I had eggs.

Cleaned the hornwort out of Pygmy tank and funny tank today. Bundled 8 bundles using @Hobbit bead method 😁. Sold them to LFS who was thrilled. First thing they said was I’ll get to it this evening and straighten it out. When I showed them the beaded bundles they got very excited and thanked me. I soaked them in easy green and equilibrium first in direct sunlight so they were pretty and perky. 7BD8B512-4693-44B9-9366-47A8A267DB58.jpeg.598c4627ecfcd1af050dcc0571ca5333.jpeg
tanks I can now see into 🤣. Added 5 pieces of manzanita I had. They are weighted with beads and plant weights until they sink. Also added a couple anubias I had. BF1EA896-A8C2-4026-A933-F46B2A6D9BC4.jpeg.0beb779214363b0fc6d6d0948a553541.jpeg01D356ED-476B-4FDA-BE80-3ECD66D05D56.jpeg.c3abe824ae17eed83edd3673df7ddeda.jpeg

still not sure what to do with the funny tank. I have a piece of mopani and spider wood in frogs terrarium I have been eyeing. Thinking of cutting a piece off one but breaks my heart to cut beautiful wood. They are both very large. D43E515B-089A-41CF-8B12-59DA88745B72.jpeg.9b4f8233d7f1840aa0ee38d86be85d8e.jpegFE38001C-30FA-4C75-85AB-19F0B521F096.jpeg.b0cd512323568840aa7ad81f1963a498.jpeg

Nice! How much did you get for the hornwort?

It was only $1  a bunch but I will take it 😁 they only sell bunch plants for $5.  I am using Corys method and yours of really cultivating the buying from me aspect of this with my LFS since I only ever exchanged for live bearded dragon and frog food 🤣 He asked for more shrimp too. 😁. I took green beans and live baby brine for my snails and guppies he keeps in the plant sale tank. He was so excited my snails laid egg clutches and asked me for tips on successfully hatching more 😳😁

So this afternoon I found one single 🐼 panda Cory egg.  Guppies were not hungry sooo…….   I put the egg in meth blue specimen container with ziss airstone in the pleco baby tank. We will see how it does. I did not see them spawning so I’m not sure when they laid. I’m not really trying to spawn them so not a big deal but who doesn’t love babies 😍88568A7D-3C10-42D0-B8F5-663329EFFCBF.jpeg.0b268d8be8a0bc0922a0b817365c2f9c.jpegFDBE3512-C0BE-4A93-B48F-A70023507C6A.jpeg.056b8ce44fe87ae47b5d9f52518f4162.jpeg

I got the egg crate done for the 2 -20 longs. Redid a 10 and the 29 as well as a new makeshift egg crate lid for the funny tank. I split it down the middle so feeding and cleaning are easier. C923DEDA-F81A-4739-9400-A8B8BBAD4CE8.jpeg.22962c0862f20168cdf25415e3b52d59.jpegC0D985CA-E321-4C97-AF6A-51675128DA97.jpeg.a6ff6b3408ca117e4a1ba8e913a95120.jpeg2A18A80A-DE07-48B6-B237-5E598A6D2CFE.jpeg.756ac450ac5cfaf17df41069cbbf70f2.jpegB8BC9EA8-519B-4C48-BA71-60BB8CD18294.jpeg.6b3232fb995927bce264090df1c3d52a.jpeg357FAE27-A363-400E-8341-50A261848622.jpeg.6aada8a82663b68e01e1f45014913c82.jpeg

Thought I would share one of my blundering not so swift moments I just realized I had. @Odd Duck suggestion I bought pots yesterday for my Val to put some dirt in yet keep my bare bottom/ less than covering gravel bottom on others. Val that I have had 4-5 months that did not die or melt but did it’s best to impersonate a plastic plant. I put it in a cup a few days ago dosed with easy green and equilibrium.  It did nothing. So early this morning I put it on the back deck to get some soft morning sun. I just remembered it 15 minutes ago. I assume it boiled 😆🤦‍♀️1269B9E1-02C3-45B7-9D1F-E2F0104BC781.jpeg.cc3078164aa5dc1f9fcf622c667f1b01.jpeg814F3B71-D1DA-4717-90D6-E9DB8B384C13.jpeg.2a40ccb30e54133a5faa2541dc827908.jpeg

Val can sometimes be crazy tough so it’s worth keeping them until they prove otherwise.  I know they grow in pretty shallow ponds that get pretty warm water, so . . . .  A little time may be their friend.  And maybe it will wake them up a little!

pulled the trigger on being rid of all aquaclears
Marine land penguin biowheel $8.87 super sale. 3x hopper capacity vs Aqua clear surface agitation vs downward dump durable plastic.

im not fancy bells and whistles when it comes to hobs and canister(I have at one point used a cat water dish pump with sponge media wrapped around on bladder snail tanks as a filter and wave maker 🤣) I require 3 things

1-water moved across my choice media

2-surface agitation

3 enough room to fit all the media I want

So let’s just say I’m in love with this.  It functions perfect without the bio wheel and Aqc doesn’t have one so this is massive upgrade at ridiculously low price. I put the biowheel on more surface so if it works yay if no oh well.  I ordered 2 more (max per customer was 3) and got hubby to order 3 more on his account. I also order 2 of the smaller ones to try at 17$.

I measured the hopper and my media layers will be 2 coop coarse 1-20ppi 1-30 ppi 1 Aqc sponge (I ordered a ton of those) 1-40 ppi. (I prefer 40 to floss as I can rinse vs throw away) Still allowing enough room if I ever need to emergency run carbon. 🤩. I feel like I hit the lottery!
my once lovely dressing room (I thought it was anyway) now looks like a haphazard garage fish room and is officially a second fish room 😞. I pulled the fluval 107 off the 10 gallon girl guppy grow out (yeah overkill it was not intended for that tank but it was seeded and I used a 307 on the pleco tank instead so I just left it there) and put it on the pleco grow out along with the new marine land. Getting the bags on media off the tank floor and into a filter where it should be I had room to put a coop large sponge in with the medium coop instead of a nano.B19901AB-45B6-429D-95B3-50D77B3B7C3F.jpeg.76b8334d4310aa1708fa61f786af0e4e.jpeg6A501EFC-3EBE-4F08-8FA3-9C085D598BB6.jpeg.340154b80cfddf75177cc0cbd75f294c.jpeg
