Pepere
Yes, I know. I should have a minimum of 6 per common knowledge. The pet store only had 3, and they have never restocked. For the first time in several months I have seen all three at the same time. Usually I only see 1 at a time and on occasion 2. They are amazingly good at hiding…
Janoš Bećar Pecaroš
I also have not 3 kuhli loaches in my 20 and they seem to be doing well.
redfish
We started with two. I asked the lfs if I should get the recommended 4 - 6 and they said any is fine 🤔. One didn’t survive quarantine so we only have one now. We see him almost daily and he seems to be doing okay. He was probably full grown when we got him so I’m not sure how long he will live but they are neat.
Odd Duck
I started with 10. I have no idea how many I have now in my 100 G, heavy planted, nanofish tank. I know there are “some”. As far as a count? 🤷🏻♀️ Not a chance. I certainly haven’t seen babies or bodies. Beyond that, only they know. Well, if they can count that high. 😆 The Kuhli parts I see always look healthy enough. 😃 I thought with a big enough group I would see them more. Apparently that doesn’t apply to Kuhlis.
Cinnebuns
I didn't think they required a certain number but I could be wrong. Was always my understanding they are cool with any number.
Flumpweesel
Does anyone really know how many fish are in their planted tank. Nanos are hard to keep track of
TeeJay
Always wanted to get some because there so different. But since there scaleless I was always nervous maybe being more prone to disease and such.
TOtrees
Try feeding a sinking pellet or frozen food at or after lights out (lights out in the room, not just in the tank). Come back 10-15 mins later and shine a flashlight where you put the food. It’s a whole different world 😀

And I have no idea if it is the same two or not. it had been months and months since I saw all three at the same time. I was pretty sure one had died and was absorbed by the tank. They have a reputation of being very hardy. they are quite amusing to watch. Sometimes frenetically swimming circles around the front glass, wriggling around each other at times, sometimes drooped over vegetation lazing as on a hammock… I think they are a very worthwhile addition to a tank. 1

I may have to add some to my 29 killi tank. Already have a crew of paleatus Cory's. They love to go to all levels of the tank so I'm sure there is room for some other friends. Lots Of Loaches
What a fun fish to have. So peaceful and friendly to all the tank inhabitants. I think they are as unique as people in their preferences towards the number you keep. I currently have 7 (LFS ran out) with my clown loaches and they come out to swim with the clowns a lot. They aren’t shy and I have no problem counting them everyday. I’m hoping to get a bunch more to add to my group. If 6 is the minimum 🤷♂️ then 20-30 would be better!😬
Pepere
I had not seen all three kuhli loaches at the same time for months…. By golly, since I started this post, I have been seeing all three swimming about at the same time, several times a day…. It is as though they are reading my posts…. ”Hah! We sure got to him by hiding. Now, lets show off every day!” 1
