Help with Red Root Floaters

Hi All,

I bought some red root floaters for my 20G long and I have noticed a lot of shedding/dying leaves (~50%).  Any ideas? I am wondering if its because they are floating to corners of tank with little light.  So I bought a contraption to keep them in one space.  Any advice welcome! Thanks Nerms!

Light can be a factor for sure, but what's the water flow of the surface? Red root floaters aren't fans of getting the top of their leaves wet, and like most floating plants, thrive in near-still water. Do you have other plants in the tank?

That may be it. There is a cannister filter in this tank with a fast top flow. I have a bunch of other plants. See pic.

No way to tell how much flow the surface has from the picture. I have red root floater in several aquariums and as @OutBout noted flow is generally not welcomed; if you have a near dead spot on the surface you can see if it can be position in that area; conversely you could always get a 40 watt flood light $30 and a 5 gallon pail $3 and grow it in that.
