Algae ID and removal

Recommended Posts

Hi! Have some very short, thick (what I assume is) algae on my driftwood (takes a good bit of effort to even pluck it off).
ID and ideas on how to remove? Hoping I don’t have to take it out… I’ll never get it back in the right way (heavily planted tank).

I'm pretty sure that it's black beard algae.

Thanks! I’m thinking I could get a SAA.. but need to research and make sure it will get along with the many tiger barbs and my opaline gourami.
