DustinJWagner
Hello everyone! Is anyone able to ID the white spots on this goldfish’s tail? One of the spots has been present for quite a while, probably several weeks. Since then however, I’ve noticed a few more pop up. The goldfish is swimming and eating normally. Water parameters are normal (0 ammonia and nitrite, 20ppm nitrate). I do once a week 50% water changes. Is this anything to be considered about? Thank you :)
Chick-In-Of-TheSea
My first reaction was ick but that spreads (and kills fish) quickly. You say it’s been a few weeks so I don’t think it is ick. @Colu
Colu
That's not ick it could be the start of Epistylis that spreads a lot slower at lower temperatures it's difficult to tell for sure off your pictures if you don't have live plants what I would do is add some aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 3 gallons for 1 week and monitor for now
DustinJWagner
Thanks for the thoughts everyone. Epistylis is certainly on the table. Right now it is still confined to the fins.
DustinJWagner
Just an update, the white spots are still there but the fish is still behaving normally.
Colu
You could do a course of kanaplex in food that the recommended treatment for Epistylis @DustinJWagner
DustinJWagner
Thanks for the kanaplex recommendation @Colu that might be worth a shot. It’s been about a month or so now. The spots are still there but the fish is behaving normally still! Edited July 17, 2022 by DustinJWagner
