Root
Hello, I am wanting to get some mystery snails, but have a pretty heavy planted tank. The two plants I am worried about is my dwarf sag and pogo. They are all well-rooted. Will they be ok or will the snails uproot it?
Cinnebuns
I have never had issues with any of my snails uprooting plants. Typically the snails that are at risk of doing this are heavy burrowing snails. Mystery snails do not burrow.
Root
Thank you! I had an old nerite that got pretty big and never had an issue, but just wanted to double-check. I have never kept them and heard they get a little bigger.
Guppysnail
Sometimes my mystery snails dig for buried treasure and uproot new not heavily rooted in yet plants. They do this more when they are younger. On the whole though they do not.
Chick-In-Of-TheSea
Mine just clean the algae off of plants, but they do not eat healthy plants. They only eat dead/decaying parts of plants, such as leaves that are dying.
JoeQ
I have assassin snails which are big time diggers. When replanting I have to strategically trim the leaves off plants in the shape of tiny barbs else I find the plants floating. Its not bad with large stems but with small stuff (s. repens, crypy parva) it can be challenging. Edit: At first I thought the plants were uprooting themselves, it took me awhile to figure this "trick" out.
