Root
Good call on separating them. If I recall correctly from a podcast a while back, Zenzo got his Oscar that was tormented by a Red Devil from a client. I remember him saying it had some wounds and it eventually went home with him after discovering the Red Devil was the culprit, but I wonder if @Zenzohas any advice for the wound and steps going forward. Sorry to tag you Zenzo I just know you have dealt with this.
Colu
What I would do is add some aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 2 gallons to help provent any secondary bacterial infection on the wound and it will aid Gill function and add essential electrolytes and I would add an extra air stone and you could try adding some garlic guard to his food to help stimulate his appetite if he's still not eating after a couple of days you might want to up the salt to 1 table spoon for 1 gallon and treat with maracyn or kanaplex
Pitafish
Thank you for the replies. We are at day five I believe. The plan was to through all the anti fungal and antibiotics. Doing cytology today.
Administrators Zenzo Posted June 18, 2022 Administrators Share Posted June 18, 2022 Clean water that you can partially change daily or every other day, antibacterial meds, and no other fish to bother it. It looks pretty nasty, but with proper care, it could recover. Good luck!

If you don't have anyone to help with evaluation, I'm trying to remember what was said regarding imaging and stains on another thread, but you can DM Odd Duck or tag here if you need help with ID of bacteria and best meds options. I've had fish look worse, make full recoveries. Knowing whether the resulting bacterial infection is gram neg or gram positive makes the difference ime. Pitafish
I keep trying I have written two updates and couldn’t get them to post. started kanaplex. Doing a water change today. Got an aquarium medicine book to help guide me a bit more. I have a 30 gallon I might try to get her to move him in to make the hospitalization easier. I dropped the ball on the cytology and got caught up at work and never got it done. can try Monday morning so it’s as fresh as possible. But fish is still swimming
