Corbidorbidoodle
Once, in some video, I saw a crazy lookin' pleco. It was probably at least 1.5 feet, regular pleco brown, and had gobs of these porcupin-type spikes coming out of it's gills. Not like a bristlenose. This thing haunts my dreams. Even though it's nightmare fuel, I need closure. What the heck is this thing? I can't find it with my random google attempts. Help appreciated.
Fish Folk
So along with the copule (bristles)… Ancistrus have spikes that they flare from their gills for defense. This is why you should only catch them with an extremely fine mesh net… Here is a quick write-up about this on another webpage.
