I thought I would share this option for emergency back up power for our tanks.

It is a small 400 watt power inverter by Ryobi that uses 18volt Lithium Ion battery packs for Ryobi cordless tools.

it has 1 120 volt outlet, and 2 usb ports.

I have a reasonable collection of Ryobi tools using this battery so for me it is a good option.  Inverter cost me 59.00 before recent ramp up of inflation.  Not sure what current price is.  I have a few 4 amp hour battery packs.

Maybe 60 watt hours on a charge with efficiency losses. I can recharge battery packs in my car with car charger.

To be sure its not going to keep your heater going, but air pump consumes about 3 watts, aqueon 10 quietflow consumes 3 watts, Seachem Tidal 35 consumes 6 watts.

not the be all end all solution, but one that works reasonably for my needs.

It is especially good if you have a generator as it provides ongoing power to prevent needing to run the generator continually.

This is a fantastic and creative idea. My hubby has something like this. I never thought to use it. My pumps are all battery ACO now and I have a generator but this would give me an extension on time before I had to resort to starting the beast (total pita)

Yes, and it is nice to have a break from the generator running too.

you can run the generator for a few hours to cook, heat the tank some, recharge batteries, and then shut it down, meanwhile pets are being looked after.

Sounds like a reasonably priced option. Was thinking of getting one of the smaller jackery power stations. But not sure if it's worth the price tag for not knowing how much time I would get out of it before it dies. I know they make solar panels you can use to recharge but that's quite a bit of money so this maybe the easier way to go.

As long as you already have battery packs and chargers it is a cheap add on.

Unfortunately I don't but the cost of a couple of the batteries charger and converter would probably still be cheaper than the other route.
