Do snails eat dead snails?

Will pond snails and other species of “pest” snails eat dead snails of their own kind? I’ve noticed some smaller snails die in my tank. Probably because nitrites are slightly elevated due to cycling. Along with the fact I’m not feeding them because I don’t want them to populate like crazy. I try to remove the big ones but some are super small. Will other, bigger snails snack on the dead snails? I would assume any decaying matter is fair game to a snail

Yes. Snails are detrivores. If they are properly motivated though (aka hungry), they will try to eat just about anything organic. If it holds still long enough.
