Red aquarium dwarf lily

I bought a bulb back in November. It seemed to be doing really well - many lily pad shoots over many months. In the last 1-2 months it has stopped sending out shoots. And it was been only sending out a few leaves close to the bulb.

i ended up getting rid of it.  Ideas on what could have happened?

It happens with bulb plants. They have a dormant period. I have a couple red tiger lotus that are slowly entering that phase (or I could be killing them, but I hope not)

I have one that’s just now sending out new leaves after about two months.

I might have bee premature in my cancelling it LOL

Maybe a dormant period is good with as fast as they grow lol

Good to know. I just planted a lily plant from Cory on 5/9. I'll make sure to keep it if it goes dormant and see how long that lasts. Right now it is going crazy! I love it. I'm glad you posted this!

My rule of thumb with dormant bulbs has been to give them a squeeze. If they feel firm, with no soft spots or slimy bits, I leave them in the tank and check on them periodically. They usually come back to life - and bigger than ever - within a month or two.
