The dogs enjoy the mini ponds too. I was wondering why 2 gallons was evaporating every day.

do the dogs make a mess in the tub? dogs, cats, baby goats, chickens have been a concern about keeping a tub.

The dogs just stick their head in and drink, so not destructive at all.

My chickens don’t come this close to the house, and they have a water bowl by the coop.

I have an open aquarium in the house and the cats drink out of it, but they don’t bother my fish. It’s right at my desk so I’m sitting there all day then the door is closed when I’m not around to supervise.

No goats so I can’t help you there. 😀

THANK YOU all who bought my book or attended my Program and your very kind words.  When I started "Summer Tubbin" 25 years ago and began my "evangelizing" and learning curve with failures, it was not nearly as popular as today.

The 3rd edition -Revised was released this Spring for those interested: https://www.amazon.com/Tub-Pond-Handbook-Comprehensive-Container/dp/B091W9WLDP. I also speak at clubs via Zoom if available.

keep on tubbin and fertilize those waterlilies!

Thank you, Ted, for putting together such a great resource and especially in book form. I bought it and I am loving my first summer tub pond this year.

Thanks! Lots of fry. I sold off some adult males several weeks ago, so I have to keep reminding myself to settle down . . . because there's not as many shiny fins visible. Fry are coloring up! I'll have to post a fry video sometime. Temperatures have been rough. I did have one female die yesterday. I think it was heat . . .

How hot is your water getting? Heading into August here in Kentucky I’m trying to keep them shaded but my white clouds avoid the top of the pond except on cooler mornings.

Outdoor temps cycle into the 70s overnight, but up into the 90s in heat of day. My tubs aren't in-ground, so they swing. There is lots of shade and cover to cool water down low. In the past, I've considered running air. But that alters the natural rhythm of things . . . so I've just letting nature have her way with them this year. They are shaded until 1-3 pm, then they are in full light for several hours.

Same here, even with my tub being larger and with air running, it has gotten up to 92. The water does feel cooler where the air is moving water and that is where the guppies hang out, but not the swords or WCMMs.

Several videos here on Guppy fry in three mini tubs…

Your tubs look great. I've noticed that my guppies have developed much more pink outdoors, and also green. I assume those colors will fade when I bring them in, but I am enjoying them so much. It looks like you have a ton of fry.

I agree -- loads of pink, purple, and vibrant green. Must be the bug larvae and sunlight combination. I'm really barely adding any food to their diet at all.

Want to do a Guppy swap at the end of the season? I can send you a starter pack, and visa versa?

So, NERMs, a kind of fatal error: if you buy cheap tubs pieced together in sections, beware that sub-zero temps will find you out…

Today, I got a 40-gal stock tank at T-Supply. Planning to invest in another one by spring…

Now… in other news… there’s been a cat-adoption in the ‘hood this past fall. My neighbor took pity on a long-haired tabby who is rather without fear.

I think we may need to DIY some clever chicken wire covers!
