Ken Burke
Since I moved these guys to my wife’s betta tank, these guys have been spawning weekly. I skipped the water change last week, and this is the 3rd spawn over the last week. I have 10 of sailfins in a 10 gal tank, but I’m not positive on the ratio. I have at least 2-3 males, and look at all that caviar. oh, and I think they are spawning this am….
Fish Folk
Awesome! If you do nothing, some of those eggs will hatch and a few fry might make it in the jungle. They must like something you've got going on! Changing tanks is one of the trigger-tricks breeders use for certain species to get them to spawn. Something about new digs turns them on! Ken Burke
Yup. I think it might, just might, be the water. This tank takes on a slight green tint about a week after water changes. They are not spawning right after a water change per se, are getting frisky after a week. I skipped the water change for the last 2 weekends, and the frequency is higher than expected. Not proof, but it is a plausible working theory. On 4/26/2022 at 12:28 AM, Fish Folk said: Awesome! If you do nothing, some of those eggs will hatch and a few fry might make it in the jungle. EPAquatics
Given a large enough school, and proper conditioning, a school of Cories can effectively spawn daily. A few females every day, on a cycle. My Peppered Cories are doing this right now. New eggs literally every day.
