Went to pet store saw some long fin barbs

Am I crazy to think to Put them in a 20 gallon long tank? Also I do love Siamese algae eaters are they fast enough to deal with long fin barbs? My original plan for the tank was platies and honey gouramis. I am a beginner with a 10 gallon with a happy betta fish and a empty 20 gallon tank that’s just been growing happy plants for 3 weeks now. Been trying to figure out how and what to stock the tank with. Got too many good idea and no trigger pull.

SAE, and barbs in a 20.... id probably lean away from that combo. SAE's get 5"+, and with barbs tending to be nippy little bullies i think not enough room. in a larger tank the two together would be workable.

Understandable I figured as much but I dream. Would Cory’s perhaps be able to deal with them or if I do barbs would I have to do exclusively barbs?

id be more inclined to try some cory's with barbs than the SAE in that size tank.

What kind of 'long finned' barbs? That would make a big difference. There are long fin Cherry Barbs as well as Rosy's from what I remember. Probably some long finned Tigers too.

Oh yeah sorry they were long fin tiger barbs obviously the name discouraged me from putting nice little babies with them.
