I’m really not sure. I’ve only just barely dabbled with Lucania goodei. Somewhere I read that males can be a bit unfriendly towards each other. I’ve also read females sometimes each each other’s eggs. Here’s two archived articles from American Currents (NANFA) (1) http://www.nanfa.org/ac/Lucania-goodei-review.pdf (2) http://www.nanfa.org/ac/breeding-lucania-goodei.pdf

Fish Folk
I am rendering _no comments_ on the aquarium size / long-term suitability of this set up. But… oh my… this is what I’m saying: NANF are the equal in beauty for fish anywhere in the world. Stunning display here… Lepomis megalotis. Longear Sunfish. Probably some color enhancement going on… but still a stunner! 3

Unless it gets direct sunlight and an incredible diet, this intensity of color will not last like the Flower-horn. But on its day, it’s a beauty. Ohio - Gilt Darter (Percina evades) 2.5-3.5 inches. Listed as Federally endangered in many locales. Oklahoma - Blackstripe topminnow (Fundulus notatus) avg. 2.5 inches. Common in the aquarium hobby. Oregon - Redside shiner (Richardsonius balteatus) avg. 2.5 inches. Note: Oregon regulations are very strict. Basically has gotten me everything I have ever dreamed of. I was able to catch natives with the proprietor in person last month in North Carolina. Very connected. Has forgotten more than I'll ever learn. Here's an example of some Gilt Darters he dropped me a pin for... 1
