LisaS
I am upgrading to a 130ish gallon tank and I am trying to decide what to get. Should I get a sump setup or a canister? I currently have a 60 gallon with a fluval canister. I love the thought of having everything hidden in the sump but I am worried that the sump will be louder than my canister. Advise please 🙂
Administrators Zenzo Posted April 7, 2022 Administrators Share Posted April 7, 2022 Overall, I feel that the sump is better and more flexible as far as what you can do with it. However, they can be tricky to dial in. The main thing to think about, is how will you get the water out of the tank? If it is going to be drilled with an overflow, a sump is much more appealing. If you are going with an overflow box, make sure that you set it up in a way that you are unlikely to have a flood. I have both, and they each have pros and cons.
