Growing out Java Fern

The Java Ferns in my 14 gallon tank have so many new sprouts that I'm thinking of setting up a 15 gallon plastic tote with a heater and sponge filter and floating the sprouts and growing them out.

Will that work?

There isn't a need for a heater or filter, but youll need some nutrients and light. The ambient light of the room might be enough and for nutrients, probably good with using tank water.

I planned on dosing Easy Green and have an inexpensive light ordered. I think I'm going to drop water sprite trimmings in there too.
