I love everything longfin, but never thought they would look so good from above. Gives me ideas about my longfin danios...

Theyll work too, but you'll have to breed some color to their fin to show up more

Yes they do great in ponds

Combining that with how much they look like koi, that fish is really amazing.

I've often thought it'd be cool to have little koi look-alikes in a pond. I assumed that if I ever did that, I'd have to stick with something like splotchy-colored platies. These fish are next level.

Depending on how little you want to go, you could do comets or Shubunkin gold fish as "koi-look-alikes". I bought some feeder goldfish early on (in my fish keeping journey) and a few turned out to have longer fins (comets?) and fun patterning looking a lot like koi (at least for now, I guess their coloring could change).

Thanks for the idea. When I'm finally able to get a pond, it'll have to be small, and I'd like a species that can reproduce itself so I don't have to anticipate needing to quarantine newbies.

I'm thinking something like medaka for their ease of reproduction and hardiness. There's a slight chance I'd do a less-small fish like platies, but I'd have to think more about temperature... and I don't like *having* to think. 😂

I'm not usually a fan of longfin anything but that looks pretty cool to me!

I agree with the longfin I have pleco and guppy longfins those are the only ones I ever had longfin and the fins beg to have issues. I would not do longfins again but those are som really beautiful fish you have.

Wow! Those top view pictures are stunning! I've been keeping plain white clouds around a year and a half and have recently been contemplating adding some longfins into the mix. Pushing me closer to a decision, I think. Would love to see some side views of your coloration too.
