Swollen belly on betta

I thought my betta was just over fed. I’ve starved him for about 4 days now and he’s still swollen. Any idea what causes this/how I can treat him? It’s hard to capture him well in a photo. It also seems like his head is upturned bc of the the swelling as well.

Could be early stages of Dropsy. If so, tough to treat, though it can be "cured", especially in early stages. Once there's pineconing, it can really be a bear.  You may want to try epsom salt baths, and feed Kanaplex in the food.

He does look bloated. You can do a "Salt bath" for them where you remove them to a different container with their aquarium water and unscented epsom/aquarium salt added.

I don't have exact directions, so look them up to be sure you are acclimating them and get the correct time and dosage.

What diet are you feeding your Betta and what temperature do you have the aquarium? Lower temps slows digestion and many commercial dried foods can cause constipation in Betta.

It could also be constipation have you noticed him pass anything resently if not then I would do Epsom salt baths 1 table spoon for 2 gallons for no more than 15 minutes for a 3-4 days as Epsom salt acts as a muscle relaxants to help with constipation
