How many hundreds would you like 🤣

You know I would be happy to get dozens of that gold color!

I'm just learning how much variety there can be with bladder snails, including their body color. I have a few that are lily white, others jet black while most are a taupey grey. Shells vary a lot too, but have not seen that pretty gold before. 24k snails? 😉

I’d like to have some white and black ones, too!  I’ve got plenty of grey and brown.  For a while I had some light brown body with gold shell that made them have an almost metallic look, but I didn’t weed out and separate the other colors adequately and they got covered over by other colors.  I should have given them their own container.  😞

I saw one with my betta that was white bodied and his shell appeared silver metallic... beautiful! He was cleaning a zebra nerite so he stood out. I may have to find him again...

This is my entry for Home Alone and the Pico.

I think I purchased this 2.5 g to culture live foods but it’s never worked out. It’s been empty since the last black worm culture went down. E9DD42D8-158B-432B-B6A2-9B36AFF54D48.jpeg.70440c98c90355598e45a6bde51e633e.jpeg

I’ve been trying to figure out how to make a Caridina tank. I can’t purchase an RODI right now so I’ve bought these 5 g bottles of RODI from Lowe’s you can exchange- it’s cheaper then the LFS.

I had some leftover Brightwell substrate. I had one of my wife’s almost dead ferns. Loads of obsidian and trimmings from my other tanks.74ABFF57-2C5B-47AC-8BF1-B28FA196763C.jpeg.260e6f4aa2382954efffa0d1464631dd.jpeg6B381263-4C87-4CDA-B495-8CE173A50AAE.jpeg.421a43228f41be647d70653ffc3f3b84.jpeg8A18D498-E48E-477A-BC06-675DA16180AB.jpeg.1c9838254bba2ede360001abe5733038.jpeg

Applied a black background and arranged the rock and substrate.

I made a planter with the rock and the substrate and settled the fern in there. I put some hydrocotyl Japan and baby tears.

I have it situated next to my Wabi Kusa and 45 g display.

It’s filterless and I’ll let it cycle with a water change every week or so until the nitrites stop - think it’s the bits of soil on the roots of the fern.

Planting: rotala green, ludwigia sp “no clue, “ mermaid weed, baby tears, hygrophila polysperma “sunset”.

I'm entering in Home Alone, as well as the Pico #2 since @Beardedbillygoat1975 recommended😅

ACO St. Nermy Day Scapes from Scraps

Did not buy a single thing, everything came from either salvaged tanks, or trims out of other tanks.

Items:

Sticks

Milfoil

AR  'roseafolia'

Scarlet Temple

Leftover black gravel

Leftover, homemade UGF (plastic craft canvas + rigid uplift tubing & salvaged spout)

hydro balls under UGF

Rocks left over from other builds

Dropped in an egg sack from Lymnea (NOS) in Feb. Babies seen in tank

Aqueon Submersible White LED Light

Aqua Culture 2.5-Gallon Corner Aquarium Starter Kit with LED Light and Power Filter (light & filter died years ago)

GH 75/ kH 40 / pH 7.2

Room temp ~ 68 F

Spouse noticed I did a time warp, BTW. I have no idea why I typed "May 1st" for the pictures/video I took last Friday.🤦🏼‍♂️

I'll blame it on being an Aquarius and refusing to follow a timeline. Time is a construct, right?

Great video! An the tank is such a neat use of spare parts.

it’s funny when this first started I thought “I wonder if I have enough.” Now I realize I still have a lot of stuff I never use. 🤦🏻Such an impulse buyer.

I no longer have the liquid assets to be an impulse buyer... however, I have about 60 photos of things I ended up *not* using because I didn't get the time/spoons to build out the other 2 tanks to redo.

Underneath that table?

I realized I have scavenged enough stuff to build out at least 4 more big tanks (4') if I were to have the *space* for 4 more, lol

I hope this counts… I didn’t have everything at home because I technically I grabbed the sticks and three rocks from my neighborhood park 😜

  • Stones from the park
  • Aquatic roots of some unknown plant, also taken from the park
  • Leftover sand from the 55 breeder
  • 1g vase I’ve had for years
  • Plants from various other tanks
  • Squidward the swirly snail

At first I was going for an out-of-water stick thing but that ended up being annoying. The large branch was some driftwood that I’d also picked up at the park, but it turned out it had been from someone’s fire pit so it smelled pretty bad.

Squidward has grown…

And then what it looks like today, all cleaned up. It sits on my desk where I do most of my work. A few months ago I added a single root tab and I think the anubias liked it!

I am still curious if his swirl would pass to a second generation.

I’m very curious too! No signs in the babies yet but that’s to be expected if it’s a recessive trait. Hopefully if Squidward can make some babies with the babies, we’ll see a few swirls. 🤞

@Beardedbillygoat1975 thanks! Wait you’re not saying I won…? Do regular hearts not count for votes? (Even so I definitely don’t* have the most heart eyes on this thread 😅) Pretty sure the only honor I have is posting last. Ohhh is that the real way to win this April Fools competition?!?

Edited by Hobbit

I think you had the coolest tank resident in the category for sure! This was a lot of fun to do, not sure I would have attempted a no-tech anything at this stage in my hobby without a little push from this group of NERMs!
