Z822 Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 Hi folks, I'm having a bit of trouble getting rummynose tetras to acclimate. They get really stressed during transport, aka going from the store to my house. I also notice that they're ich magnets and mine broke out in ich two days after I got them. I bought 14 about a week ago and I have lost 6 already. Is there anything special I should be doing in quarantine with them or is the trio of quarantine medications that The COOP recommends all that I need? Thanks 2
ScottieB Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 They live hard and fast lives for sure! The med trio is all you need to cover most of the things we encounter. Also dim lights, lots of plant cover and warmer temps can help them adjust better. I do wonder how old they are when we get them? I’m sure the perfect specimen can live for 5+ years but who knows at what point we take over their care. They are sensitive to drastic changes in water quality though and I always lost some after a water change. So keeping the chemistry consistent is probably the key to long term success. 1
Z822 Posted March 30, 2022 Author Posted March 30, 2022 Thank you for the feedback. Will increase the temperature and provide them with lots of hiding places.
