Guppysnail
That is a cool meter. I knew bacteria blooms reduced dissolved o2 but I never knew to what degree. Can I ask what the DO runs normally? Is this a heavy bloom or? Is this a standard decrease. I’m very curious.

That's the old backup meter from work. Every other week I take it home to ...um ...make sure it's still working. Most of my tank DOs are between 7 and 8. Visually it looks like a light bloom. I imagine a worse bloom would consume more but I haven't had a bad one with the meter around.

There's alder trees other places I don't feel bad about collecting cones from though.

Maybe I'll pick up another group and start a second CPD breeding tank. People seem to be getting tired of dead CPDs from the LFS and apparently people have been recommending me as a source for healthy CPDs. What kind of a crazy person doesn't like CPDs? WOW! They are beautiful!!! Good job!!!

modified lung
This is an extreme example but here's why you don't let your summer tub get too overgrown with plants. When the sun goes away, the plants suck out the oxygen. I don't keep fish in this one so no harm done. 2
