StockEwe49
Hi all, I noticed today that my Plakat Betta on his side has some whiteness to his scales and they also look bent. I was wondering what people think this could be. Pictures are below. to me it looks like he maybe scratched his side? There is one large rock in the tank that he could have scratched himself against, what do you guys think? He is in a 10 gallon with two Harlequin Rasboras and a mystery snail. Also, I tested the water and it is fine.
Administrators Zenzo Posted March 9, 2022 Administrators Share Posted March 9, 2022 Is there any chance that maybe he got stuck for a short period of time, and scraped his scales when getting out? I have seen this happen before with fish.
StockEwe49
@Zenzo thanks for responding! I think that may have been what happened, there are some holes by the smaller rocks so that makes me think he went in there. But I was thinking at first Columaris or a disease with swelling since he is plump but the scales don't look like they are sticking out rather they look like they have been damaged.
Colu
Looks like an injury I would add some Indian almond leaves as they have antibacterial and antifungal properties to help him heal you will need to add 1 leaf per gallon to get a Beneficial effect and monitor
StockEwe49
@Coludo you think aquarium salt would help? If so, how long would it be good to treat him with salt since I would have to relocate him to a 5 gallon bucket. I may try the leaves, but I will have to get some more first. Colu
I think doing a salt baths will just stress him out at this point I would just monitor and add the almond leaves if it gets worse you could do aquarium salt bath 1 table spoon for 1 gallon for no more than 15 minutes
